Brian Feron
At various events held around the county, Brian asked people to rank the issues most important to them and the future of Medina County. Here they are:

    #1 Human Services
  • Senior Care; Citizens need more help to care for elderly relatives in terms of medical, transportation, and low cost housing.
  • Mental Health: Our psychiatric mental health care is minimal and presents a significant burden on families. This can increase crime and load on the justice system if not treated and addressed.

    #2 Adult Education.
  • More emphasis on adult career training technology and related business skills to find good jobs in Medina County. We need a trained workforce for a local and global world that meets the needs of growing Medina County businesses . Strong Educational facilities and programs will also create a desirable business market in Medina County.

    #3 Environment
  • Citizens are concerned about what will be done to preserve our natural resources and slow down the sprawl consuming our farmland and open space. Green initiatives such as LEED building designs, and sustainability programs including recycling, adaptive re-use of buildings and energy conservation are on the minds of our citizens.

    #4 Regionalism
  • Government at all levels ( City, Village, Township) must work together and leverage purchases for effective use of our tax dollars. Whether the source is local, state or federal tax dollars we all have an interest in reducing overlap and duplication of services.

    #5 Transportation
  • Our county transit system needs extension of service area and hours of operation to serve the many needs of seniors, working poor, and our rural citizens.
Long term; an interchange to I-71 in the Montville Twp area would reduce traffic congestion in our eastern half of the county and restore neighborhoods to normal traffic flows.
